This morning I saw this unexpected promise in my reading: God settles the alone and lonely in a home. We are more familiar with the surrounding promises to the fatherless, widows and prisoners, but this promise to the God-loving lonely is precious both for this life and the next. The character of God is to give the loner in community!
Father of the fatherless and protector of widows
is God in his holy habitation.
God settles the solitary in a home;
he leads out the prisoners to prosperity,
but the rebellious dwell in a parched land.
(Psalm 68:5-6 ESV)
